Introduction

For those of us that live on The Avenue in Beckenham, I think most of us recognise that we are fortunate to live on a quiet leafy road on the edge of some beautiful parks and woodland, however, we have all become too familiar with the ongoing degradation of The Avenue’s road surface which over time has become increasingly problematic and potentially unsafe for residents and users of the road.

Piecemeal repairs have been made historically through the efforts of local residents, but it has become clear that a more sustainable and long-term approach to finding a solution is needed.

As such, The (Unmade) Avenue (BR3) Road Association (‘The Association’) has been formed as a ‘not for profit’ Private Company Limited by Guarantee by local residents of The Avenue (BR3) to raise funds and formalise the repair and maintenance of the unmade section of The Avenue, which runs from Westgate Road to Downs Hill Road and in doing so safeguard the distinctive rural ambience of The Avenue in the interest of all who live on it.
